Sometimes home is the refuge you need-and sometimes it isn’t. Adelaide Davies, who’s been living in Sacramento, returns to Whiskey Creek, the place she once called home. She’s there to take care of her aging grandmother and to help with Gran’s restaurant, Just Like Mom’s. But Adelaide isn’t happy to be back. There are too many people here she’d rather avoid, people who were involved in that terrible June night fifteen years ago.
Ever since the graduation party that changed her life, she’s wanted to go to the police and make sure the boys responsible-men now-are punished. But she can’t, not without revealing an even darker secret. So it’s better to pretend….
Noah Rackham, popular, attractive, successful, is shocked when Adelaide won’t have anything to do with him. He has no idea that his very presence reminds her of something she’d rather forget. He only knows that he’s finally met a woman he could love.
Uhm, I dunno what to say about the main issue of the fourth book of Whiskey Creek series. Gang rape is seriously a very bad thing. It ruined everybody’s life who involved in the case, especially the victim.
I do really feel sorry towards Adelaide-Addy-Davies, who had to handle her past as good as possible in order to create her own happiness. But when her grandma needed her help, she had to overcome her fear to go back to her home town, Whiskey Creek.
Despite her traumatic past, Addy also had to handle her feeling towards her high school crush, Noah Rackham. He accidentally saved Addy who’s been abducted in the old mine. Addy didn’t recognize who her abductor was, but she was so sure that he’s one of the guys who ruined her life.
Some people who involved in Addy’s traumatic past didn’t want her to live peacefully in Whiskey Creek. They’re so worried she would ruin their happy life with their bad attitude in the past. It’s so ironic because Addy’s life already ruined by their action a long time ago.
After some bad incidents happened to Addy, slowly but sure the truth’s revealed, and everyone must faced the consequences of it. It hurt so bad and affected many people’s life, but we couldn’t hide dirty secret forever.
For me, Addy’s struggle’s more interesting than her relationship’s development with Noah. I couldn’t relate with Noah’s character even though he already appeared in the other books. But I could understand his real feeling where he’d be compare forever to Cody, his twin brother who died in a tragic accident. He had his own secret too.
And finally, Baxter revealed his true self. OMG, I didn’t think it would be that way: involving some girls who watched the scene, but the writer did it and made Noah shocked along the stories. Hmm….
